Balloon Tethering

Tethered balloon rides are offered Saturday and Sunday, as long as wind and rain conditions allow. Gates will open at 7:30 am and tethering begins at 8:00 am. Rides are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, see below for the waiver of liability form and additional terms.

Kite Flying

The kites that will fly during the Grants Pass Balloon & Kite Festival will be flown by individuals who are experienced operating their equipment at large open-to-the-public events. We hope in future years to make an area available for everyone to bring their own kites to fly, but this first year, outside kites are prohibited.

MegaFlag – Largest Kite in the World!

Guinness record certified as the largest kite in the world, the American MegaFlag kite has never flown in Oregon before, and nowhere else in the world does it fly on an annual basis. You won’t want to miss this experience.

Morning Balloon Launches

A truly magical moment. Hot air balloons are inspiring and uplifting… that is if you can make it out of bed at the break of dawn!

NOTE: Balloon launches are subject to weather conditions. If wind is not ideal, the launch will be moved to an alternate location, which will be posted on Facebook.

Balloon Tethered Rides

Tethered ride customers must sign a Liability Waiver the day of flight. The following terms and conditions also apply: Standing, walking, and sitting assistance devices, such as walkers, crutches, or wheel chairs (list is not complete), are not permitted. Passenger weight may not exceed 200lbs. Passengers above this weight will be handled on a case by case basis. Passengers must be able to see over the edge of the basket (approximately 36 inches high). No toddlers or infants.

Balloon Night Glow

Balloons lighting up the dark skies… photo-worthy, to say the least. Night glows will be held both Friday and Saturday. Gates open at 8:30 pm on Friday. Performance beings at dusk, and ends at 10:00 pm.
